Caterpillar Motorcade Report

On the 16th of April 2005, the PSC organised a day of action against the Caterpillar Corporation who supply bulldozers to the Israeli armed forces. The IDF use these machines to:
  • destroy Palestinian homes and olive groves.
  • in building the notorious Apartheid Wall.
  • kill or injure those who resist.

9 members of the Exeter PSC group met up at various points to drive up to the event in 4 cars. We joined the others at the services just outside Birmingham for a 60 car motorcade to the Caterpillar European headquarters. The impact of these cars, all with florecent green and orange placards and Palestinian flags, was quite impressive and probably a little unusual.

We later met up again in Victoria Sq. (Birmingham) for a rally. Lots of good speakers although some did go on a little! Some of our group got stuck in by handing out leaflets and discussing politics with the local skateboarding youth.

The whole event was very well organised, many thanks to everyone who attended, especially to all those involved in organising an excellent event.
